Gaptek Trains the Army for the XXXVIII Antarctic Campaign
At Gaptek, we are proud to have played a crucial role in preparing the Army for its XXXVIII Antarctic Campaign by providing specialized training at our logistics center in Massanes (Girona). This campaign, which will take place between the last months of 2024 and the first months of 2025, represents a significant effort to support scientific research and ensure compliance with the Antarctic Treaty.
From June 17 to 20, 2024, we organized an intensive course for the assembly personnel of the II/1 Engineering Battalion from Salamanca. This course was designed to optimize the installation of the new 307 m² laboratory module, an ambitious project developed in collaboration with the Army’s Directorate of Infrastructure and Installations (DIIN). The module will house researchers and their equipment, being almost twice as large as the previous workshop module, with complete installations that represent a real challenge due to the tight time frame and the demanding weather conditions in Antarctica.
During the training, key areas of module installation and assembly were covered, with a partial erection of the structure. On the second day of the course, our President Tomás Feliu had the honor of receiving the Head of the XXXVIII Antarctic Campaign and the Head of the Engineering Battalion at our facilities, demonstrating the commitment and close collaboration between Gaptek and the Armed Forces.
The Engineering Battalion’s experience in implementing modular infrastructures, combined with the ease of assembly of the Gaptek system, ensures an efficient and successful installation of the new laboratory module in record time.
We are confident that the collaboration between Gaptek and the Army will result in another success for our Armed Forces and significantly contribute to the advancement of scientific research in Antarctica. At Gaptek, we remain committed to innovation and supporting vital missions, demonstrating our ability to meet the world’s most demanding challenges.
