Ala 31 celebrates its 50th anniversary with the publication of a commemorative book
At Gaptek, we are proud to have contributed to the operational capabilities of Ala 31, building four of its main infrastructures, including the first two A400M Hangars, and supporting the publication of this “Anniversary Book,” which captures memorable moments of Ala 31 in its 50 years of existence.
“Lo que sea, donde sea y cuando sea” (“Whatever, wherever, whenever”) is the motto of Ala 31, located at Zaragoza Air Base, reflecting its wide range of services and activities.
Initially founded as the 301 Squadron in 1973, five years later it became one of the most important Transport Wings of the then Spanish Air Force. Its first “workhorse”, the C-130 Hercules, remained in service until the end of 2016, when it was replaced by the A400M. This change represented a significant qualitative leap and a considerable professional challenge Ala 31’s personnel due to the completely different technology. However, the efforts of these men and women have paid off, making Ala 31 the first Unit of the Spanish Air and Space Force to comply with the PERAM 145 regulations.
Ala 31 has participated in a wide variety of military and humanitarian missions around the world, some of them extremely critical and risky.
Congratulations to Ala 31 on this anniversary, and we wish them all the best for the next 50 years.
